Daisuke Hamaguchi is the Chief Investment Officer of Pension Fund Association (PFA), Japan. He is responsible for managing its assets totaling US$110 billion. He leads a team of seven directors, and an investment staff of 30, which oversee the following groups; Domestic and International Equities, Fixed Income, Alternative Investments, Private Equities, Real Estate, Investment Strategies, and Administration. He joined PFA in 2005. Prior to joining PFA, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Mitsubishi Corporation Pension Fund, and was also the Deputy Treasurer of Mitsubishi Corporation. Prior to these positions, he worked for Mitsubishi’s Capital Markets Group for over 20 years. There he worked in a broad range of areas throughout the firm, including M&A advisory work, private equity investment, corporate finance, derivatives trading, ABS and MBS portfolio management, hedge fund investment, and trading of copper. He lived in London from 1990 to 1999. He received a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan, and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
